Dear Sirs,
I am using Eclipse on windows xp to build and develop vue from source. I have successfully used ant
to process buildcomponents.xml and build.xml. It was successful. Vue was actually launched during the build. However, after the build, i only find vue-core.jar and vueimport.jar in my project src directory. (btw, do i need to empty the build directory before i start building? just wondering.. ) There's no vue-lib.jar, neither is vue.jar there. So how shall i launch this vue-core.jar to test drive my own development codes? could you give me some help?

BTW, did vue use something like swt for its gui? I am working towards adding a few new kinds of nodes into vue, with different appearance and layouts, say, a node with a label field and comment field automatically displayed. Also some user defined double click response would be nice, say, a double click would show the pathway info of the node. Is this possible? What is a good place for me to start? Could you show me some guidance?

Your help is very much appreciated! Big thanks in advance!

if you run:

ant all

against build.xml in VUE2\src

it'll make VUE.jar in src\build\

you can run this by using

java -jar VUE.jar

We use the Swing toolkit not SWT.

I wouldn't worry so much about the buildcomponents.xml, vue-lib.jar or vue-core.jar.

If you pick one thing you want to do first I could provide some more specific guidance on where to start in the code.

Good luck, let me us know how you make out, and if you're interested in contributing the code back when you're done.

Hi, Mike,
I understand i should do 'ant all' , but is there a way for me to do this in eclipse? What i did in eclipse is
this: i right click on build.xml in the package explorer and choose to run as ant. I don't see an ' ant all ' option there. So how could i do this? Thank you a lot!

Hi? Mike,
Ok, i found the 'all' bullet in the ant build menu. Working now! I have the vue.jar file under build as you said! Thank you very much!
One thought that i had is to add the node palette to the vue, from which users can choose different types of node. One particularly interesting one would be one displaying three fields by default: a label, a comment, and the usual text field. Also, i would hope to be able to generate a new map from a pathway in a map. Is this possible?
Thank you very much indeed!
