Total newbie, and completely unfamiliar with all things electronic. Trying to add an excel file as a resource, but getting this message:

XML Feed unavailable:

Error: NullPointerException

Configuration address: [C:\Documents and Settings\amchapman\My Documents\CDIP\FY11 CDIP Participating Stations and Interns.xlsx]

This could be a problem with the configuration for this XML Feed, with the local network connection, or with a remote server.

Hi Ann,

You have to save the excel file as CSV (comma separated values), here's some directions on how to do that:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/excel-help/import-or-export-text-txt-or-csv-files-HP010099725.aspx

Then you import the CSV into VUE's dataset feature, let me know if you have any more problems, there's some info here as well that may be helpful:

Great! Thanks.

I imported the spreadsheet succesfully, but several of my nodes say "no content," even though when I hover the cursor over them, it gives me the name ("keywords") of the node. What gives?

I'm not sure what you mean, sorry. Can you send me a screenshot or send me the CSV file to recreate myself? You can email if you'd rather not post it Mike.Korcynski@tufts.edu

Ann,

It looks like VUE had trouble figuring out the right primary key for your data. It looks like 'Intern' is the closest, when loading CSV VUE assumes 1st column is going to be primary key by default. Regardless you can tell VUE explicitly to use Intern as the primary key, and as the display value. I put together a video to show you how to do this:

How can I align my image within the node?

Ann,

It's either easy or if the node has an already existing non image resource, a bit difficult, here's another video:

Good info, but that's not what I was trying to do. I'm trying to center the image within the node, so that it's not left-justified.

In the attached screen shot, I'm trying to center the image associated with the CDIP node

Ah, got ya. We don't have layout of images like that. They only left-justify.

is it possible to have a link from one node that connect to multiple "receiver" nodes?

No, this is the two ways that is usually handled.
