Hey VUE team,

Firstly, kudos on a wonderful tool. As a User Interface designer, VUE has become a staple in my toolkit for jamming out simple, fast iterations of concept designs. Our whole design/dev team is using it for all sorts of tasks: information architecture diagrams, wireframes, storyboards, brainstorming, meeting notes, you name it.

What I love most about VUE in this context is exactly what it does NOT do. I'm forced to forget about drop shadows, gradient fills, and everything else that doesn't matter about early stage concept designs and prototypes. It's lean design in a nutshell.

I hope that helps provide some context to the feedback below. With just a few adjustments, I feel VUE can become downright indespensible to the UX/UI design process.

Faster Links -- As a user I want to create a link without first creating a node so that I can draw lines faster.

Straight Lines on X/Y Axis -- As a user I want to hold a keyboard shortcut when dragging the endpoint of a straight link so that I can lock lines to the vertical or horizontal axis.

Copy/Paste Links -- As a user I want to be able to copy/paste a link so that it pastes near the original link it was copied from (currently, pasted links are dropped far, far away from the original)

Unlinked links in groups -- As a user I want to be able to include unlinked links in a group of other elements so that UI sketches that include unlinked links (used as dividers or borders in this context) can be used as boiler plates that can be grouped, copied, pasted, and iterated quickly.

Text formatting in nodes -- As a user I want to be able to use text formatting features in node text (our current workaround is to add a rich-text box and shift-drag it into a node - same effect with a few extra clicks)

Highlighting text in rich text boxes -- As a user I want to be able to smoothly highlight text so that I can make edits more efficiently. Right now the highlight box does some janky and wild stuff.

Scaling groups of nodes -- As a user I want to uniformly scale a group of nodes so that I can enlarge or shrink an entire diagram. The current default behavior of uniform translate when manipulating multiple selected nodes is awesome, but this would be a great alternate behavior.

Pie in the Sky / Miscellaneous
Collaborative Maps -- As a user I want to edit a map in real time with other collaborators so that we can contribute to the same map together.

Import custom shapes -- As a user I want to import custom shapes so that they can be used as node outlines

Hello Mike,

regarding the Copy/Paste Links you mention: I fast-duplicate links by using the "Duplicate" keyboard-shortcut (CTRL + D).

The duplicate links appear very near to the original one that way.

Hey Jan -

Brilliant! Don't know how that shortcut was escaping me, but that's a great one. Thanks!
