Here is my VUE wishlist (based upon version 2.2.8)

User interface:

* Option: Snap to grid for selected nodes.

* Option: Snap to grid for new nodes.

* Option: Snap to grid for dragged nodes.

* Collapse/hide children nodes - node context menu item.

* Show children - inverse of above - node context menu item.

* Allow dragging a connector to anchor point on a different side of a node.

* Allow multiple connector anchors on long sides of a node.

* Add/remove space between nodes (Compendium does this w/drag selection rectangle + key).

Search:

* Search for nodes;
- option to make list node from results
- option to go to node in results

Drawing tools:

* Allow shapes on background as text is now; e.g., to group nodes.
(Using a node as a shape is awkward, especially when editing enclosed nodes.)

Import/Export:

* Import outline document (text or other format).

* Import from clipboard:
Paste list to create nodes (strip leading numbers/bullets).

* Export to OpenOffice.org Drawing.

* Export as outline to OpenOffice.org document.

This is a very extensive list you've put together. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us. We will do our best to address the items users submit on the wish list. Unfortunately though, fulfilling our grant commitments are our top priority and we have very limited discretionary funding for side projects. That's why we must appeal to the community to help us improve VUE.

I'm not that used to using this kind of forum so I'm not up to speed on protocol. so if I've jumped into this discussion at an inappropriate place please forgive me but it is hard to know where to begin sometimes.

I'm new to Vue as well but from what I have seen so far I will be using it quite a lot. it is just th ekind of tool I had been looking for to help me organise a load of material. Can you please tell me is it possible to link to a specific bookmark in a document

regards
Paul

I am not exactly sure what you mean by linking to a specific bookmark, so I will give you a best guess answer. One can embed a URL into a node by right-clicking on the node and selecting "Add URL". Then the node will have a "Web" icon in it, which is a hyperlink to your bookmark. I hope this helps.

I've managed to get the URL link to work fine but I'd like to use a book mark within a document which would act as a pointer to a sepcific chapter heading. So if for example I was looking at a strategy document I might want to link to "vison", "values","objectives" etc

You can link to anything that can be expressed as a URL. Otherwise, you can link resources (files) to your nodes. Sadly, a finer level of linkage would require application-specific implementations (for example Word or Powerpoint) which are well beyond the scope of our funding. Of course, we welcome contributions from the community.
