It would be great if you can make meta-map out in Vue. What that means is to make it possible to build a map and then insert it inside a node that is part from another map. In these sort of speaking, you can have deepness levels inside the meta-map.

Is kind of having collapsible nodes, but goes beyond that. It is the ability to build very abstract and complete maps from simpler ones in which the user (student and/or teacher) can go as deep as he/she wants in a particular theme/node, but with the facility that she/he is focusing entirely on a submap, without the messing of the outer-level nodes.

From my standpoint of view, I picture it in this way:

For a "map-node" (that is, a node that holds in a map), the user could double-click it (the get-in feature) and with a zoom in effect, the insider map will appear. The user is then, inside the deeper level in the map. Then whenever he/she would want to come back again, is just a matter of executing the "get-out" command. In this way, we can even talk of "fractal-maps" that could be built with many levels of deepness.

Of course, this comes with the issue of having an efficient way of handling the levels in which the user is, in order to move in and out from them with ease. This will definitely give Vue a tremendous boost and will get it far beyond any other mind map software.

I hope this feature comes soon.

Kind Regards,

Hi Santiago,

We are working under tight constraints for VUE 3. While the plan does not include a "map within map" feature, there will be a layers feature with the ability to create links across layers. In essence, we are adding another dimension to a VUE map. It is currently possible to include VUE maps as resources within VUE maps, albeit without the navigation features that you are describing. Hopefully in the next round of VUE development (if we get funded for another round), we will be able to address your request. Anyone, who'd like to contribute code extensions to VUE will have our support.

Regards,
Nikolai

Love the idea of fractals Santiago! That would make for a really immersive knowledge experience.
