Hello everybody,

Is appropriate to use VUE to conceptualize, organize, classify, relate, archive, search, represent, predict and establish procedures, guidelines, in a visual/graphic way of an entire body of knowledge that includes ideas, concepts, facts, laws, objects, findings, procedures, etc?

Can I do flow diagram of concepts, ideas, procedures, too?

I do not know if I am asking too much, for a tool. I appreciate your advice in this matter.

Thanks a lot
JAC

You can use VUE as a flow diagram builder. It is a flexible concept mapping tool, which can be used for knowledge organization and presentation in a variety of contexts. Have you downloaded and played around with it yet?

Nikolai, thanks a lot for your fast response.

1.- I have not downloaded yet, I am waiting the new version and also I am looking which is the most wide and flexible tool for me. Not just for concepts maps, I am looking for a "complete knowledge control center" with the years, I have accumulated a vast amount of varied information in my hard disk and it is time to organize it, from philosophy, science and technology, and do something with it.

2.- I am also beginning to develop web applications for my customers and with the set of technologies available, it is getting complicated to make a full "flow diagram" of the application with all the resources, files and attachments for the project.

3.- My mind is overloaded and getting hot, I do not have a cooled multiprocessor brain :) I need to develop some type of knowledge base of all my stuff in an orderly manner and in a way that I can discover associations and possible applications for all this data, also with a powerful search capabilities and visual representation, not only for my job but also for other fields of my life.

I do not know If I was able to explain myself.

4.- Please let me know if VUE will help with this multipurpose knowledge repository and Ideas development environment that I need.

5.- By the way, which tool do you use for modeling VUE development?

Thanks and best regards
Alfredo

I am not sure I understand perfectly your questions, but let me give them a crack...

Your use case of building a knowledge base and organizing your thinking is exactly one of the main use cases we had in mind with VUE. In this regard I think that you are looking at the right product. VUE should also be nice for representing flow diagrams. I am not sure what you mean by what we use to model VUE with. If you mean which IDE we use in development, then the answer would be NetBeans and Eclipse.

At any rate, let me recommend that you download the latest VUE 3 preview release and play around with it. This will give you a good idea about what VUE is all about and what's possible with it.

Hi guys

I am a PhD student who has just discovered VUE and I can see a lot of fantastic opportunities that may coe from using VUE. (I'm definitely a user rather than developer)

I have used VUE to create a node diagram of my interview questions, and I have linked concepts and also written fairly extensive notes showing the purpose of each question and some references and so on - Fabulous tool!

What I can't figure out how to do is to be able to print the notes so that my supervisor (who may not wish to download VUE) will be able to see them. I'll show her the program and the active map when I meet her next week. Any ideas?

VUE really meets my needs as a non-linear thinker, and I am also working on a map of a repertory grid process using photos as elements (in case anyone is familiar with repertory grid).

I've attached my map of questions

Cheers,

Craig

Craig,

Did you try export handouts and notes in the files menu? I've attached your map as a node notes outline and a node and notes side by side display would either of these outputs work for you? If you'd prefer to keep it looking like a map but allow your supervisor to read the notes without VUE you could "save as" the map as an HTML interactive graphic and put the resulting image and html file on a web server, the notes would then come up as javascript rollovers on the image in a web browser.

I hope this helps,

Mike

Bonjour !

Some weeks ago :
I have had looked at a video showing Drop/Drag actions between a data sheet &VUE.

The speaker was a man.
Subject : in little windows right side, bottom of the screen, name of VUE users, Continent of the users, in a data sheet like Excel .
Show : Selection/Click of the column and Drag/Drop to the Vue map

The screen was organized like that:
Vue displayed on screen, Excel(?) data sheet in a pop-up on the right bottom side of the screen.

Meanwhile I downloaded Vue. I am happy to work with this tool. I already have been using Freeplane for 2 years.
Vue offers possibilities to work process management in ISO9001 work.

A whole day I'm searching through Youtube, Slideshare to find this video.

Help !

I can not find it.

My aim:
Working with excel, I want to built an integrated process management tool. I need to transfere datas from Excel to Vue.

If you have the URL of this video PLEASE share ;-))

Excellente journée
Annemarie

Hello Mike,

Thank you for your answer.

The video I look for is presented by a man.

The content is about 1 subject : VUE users around the word.
Sub- subject (tag) is presentation as circular arrangements of the datas (names of Vue users)
I also have searched with concept 'graph'.
The continent is the central node & the names are around it. So you see 4 'wheels' of datas in the final Vue.

The time this videos plays is very short, about 1minute or less.

As it happens the second time within 10days that such a situation happens, it seem's bizarre ;-)
The first was a A3 presentation (Toyota Production System), I couldn't find a second time.

In any case, thanks for sharing,
it will take some months more, then I will be able to share an example of integrated process building tool with vue & other management programs.

Have a good day,
Sunshine from France :-))
