Bonjour
Some remarks after my first view of the new VUE (en français)
At the open of VUE 2,3
1) The name of the Window is New Map 1 => in French Sans Nom
In the middle of the window : New Map => Sans Nom
2Menu Bar:

Fichier
21) Ouvrir: Label of the window: Open Map => Ouvrir Fenêtre
22) Enregistrer: Label of the window: Save Map => Enregistrer Carte
Nom de fichier =>Sans Nom
23)Importer Données When you clik « Annuler » in the window « Ouvrir » the system return a Zombi process
24) « Publier » Scroll menu don't come

About the trad and for Rémi:
I used the word "graisse" because it's the real typographic word for stroke but it's a too pompous term: the modif is done.
I let "layer" before testing and an a n unanimous convention.
For "Disposition ans "Arborescence" I don't know I 'll change later.
Thank's for your ideas.

More trifles about the english interface file :

1) In the parag: #resource installationfile chooser,
Line 165 until 175 ,why no blank before and after = ? ,is that important ?

id. line 1235 until line 1238

2) Can you tranlate for me in french Layer UI what 's the sense of UI ?

3) line 1003 why le file %s whereas in line 998 or 703 there are quote : '%s'.same thing 1010 and 1035 ?

4) In line 1004 ,what does it mean #%d?

Have a good day

Amitiés

Bernard

Hello,
I follow the instructions

Meanwhile, we have checked in the following languages:
- French, Spanish, Russian, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Greek (partial translation)
You can download today's build:
http://releases.atech.tufts.edu/vue/v2.4preview14/

and I dowloaded the 2.4 version :)

But when I run the program ...The interface is in cyrillic :(

Hi Bernard,

It sounds like your VUE may be displaying its text in Russian, Bulgarian, or Greek. I'm trying to reproduce the problem; can you please tell me:

1. are you using Mac or Windows?
2. what is your system setting for language and country?
3. did you make any selection on VUE's preferences language panel (settings there over-ride the system setting, and require a restart of VUE to take effect).

Thanks,
Brian

Bonsoir Brian
Thank"s for your mail
Here are the Answers;
1) I use Widows vista on a Acer athlon duo.
2)Language : french ; Country: France métropolitaine
3) Probably I have changed Unexpectedly préférence language.

These are the facts:
I downloaded VUE 2.4 i n a folder labeled Vue24
I run ithe program
The interface run in french
I load an example of personnel map (in french of course)
After a few moment my screen became white and plenty of stripes ( I have often this probem , the manufacturer of my computer changed my screen one year ago because out of service) .
I shut down the system
After a restart
VUE interface is in Cyrilic (not in greek) probably russian ukranian or bulgarian.
I delete the folder Vue24
Icreate a folder Vue24new
I dowload the Vue2.4 in this new folder
I run the program
The interface is again in cyrilic!!!

Thank You
Bernard

Hello Brian

3. did you make any selection on VUE's preferences language panel (settings there over-ride the system setting, and require a restart of VUE to take effect).
Yes you're right
I download again VUE2.4 and Iexamine each value f the menu bar. the last of the second is preference and the last of this panel is language: it was russian.(That was a funny game like Zelda)
Now I've my french Vue.
Sorry for the trouble I 've done

Good night
Au revoir et merci
Bernard

Bonsoir Bernard,

Could you please try one thing? Launch VUE and click on the Edit menu -- then click on the Preferences menu item. On the Preferences window choose Language in the left-hand tree of choices. A list of languages should appear in the right-hand side. Is one of them selected? That would be interesting to know. Whether or not any is selected, please select Francais and then quit and restart VUE. VUE's text should now appear in French.

If VUE isn't in French, please do all the above again, except select Spanish first, THEN French. I think there may be a bug that causes the first choice to be ignored under some circumstances. I'm investigating that right now.

Merci beaucoup,
Brian

Thanks Bernard, you anticipated out my request before I requested it. I think you may have uncovered a bug, and I'm investigating it.

Yes, it's lots of fun to try to use VUE in a foreign language that you don't read. Makes it more challenging for sure!

Salut Bernard,

Je suis en train d'essayer la version 3.0beta4b2 et il y a quelques commandes de menus qui ne sont pas traduites correctement.

Est-ce que c'est toi qui corrige le problème?

Daniel

I've added the latest VUE properties to the language file. If you would like to translate them I will be happy to add them back to VUE. Please use this file as the starting point of your translation.

Thanks again for your work!

Regards,
Brian
