I love this program except for the Group function. I would like to see it work like the parent/child structures that are implemented in most mind manager programs: FreeMind, MindManager, Inspiration, etc.

For example when you use the Rapid Prototyping function, it would create child nodes that you could collapse and expand by double-clicking on the parent. That is the way Inspiration's rapid prototyping (it's called RapidFire in Inspiration) works. Then you should be able to drag-and-drop any node to another to change the parent/child relationship quickly. This is pretty much standard in mind mapping programs.

Brainstorming and structuring is a discovery process, and you need to be able to create and change structure rapidly...and you need to be able to expand and collapse structures quickly in able to see the forest for all the trees (reduce the complexity).

I think this suggestion has been stated 10 different ways by other people. Making a tree and then dropping it into another node doesn't work for me. This gives me the appearance of two parent nodes and then it is very difficult to move a node and change the structure.

This program is fantastic...but if only it could perform this function, in my opinion it would eat up the competition.

Hi David,

* Expanding/Collapsing node children is coming in VUE 3.0.

* You can also turn on Pruning in the View menu which will turn on pruning controls when links are selected to hide/show portions of the map.

I can't comment further at the moment without taking a look at the inspiration functionality, but thank you for the feedback.
