Is there anywhere I can find more information about the formats for data import? Currently I'm experimenting with 2.4 preview 9.

At the moment you can use CSV, RSS or any XML. If you use arbitrary XML you'll want to use About Resource->Item Path to specify the path in the XML of what element you want to be a node.

Thank you. In addition to nodes and links, is there a way to import node notes, keyword tags, and other metadata concurrently? Are there any examples of import files that take full advantage of the import functionality? Right now, I'm using a relational CSV file.

Furthermore, it seems that the "folder" import option loads the files as lists. Is there a way to load a folder of relational files?

Thomas,

When you import the row nodes get all the metadata of the row and the columns get their individual value metadata, there is currently no way to import notes, keywords or additional metadata. You can however, specify which column creates an image and have urls from the dataset converted into node resources.

To answer the follow up question, no that's not yet possible.

I am using the version 3.0, and trying to load an XML file that defines the artifact dependencies for a Java build, as resolved by Ivy. See fragment below. Is there anyway to tell VUE to treat the "module" entries as nodes and the "caller" entries as links? I was not able to find on the user guide or on the menu system any reference to "About Resource->Item Path" which seems to be the way to do it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="ivy-report.xsl"?>
<ivy-report version="1.0">
<info
><dependencies>
<module organisation="SAS" name="sas.report.output.management" resolver="sas-repo">
<revision name="902000.40.0.20080904192701_v920" status="integration" pubdate="20080904192729" resolver="sds" artresolver="sds" downloaded="false" searched="true" default="false" conf="compile" position="0">
<caller organisation="SAS" name="sas.report.output.management-caller" conf="compile" rev="latest.integration" callerrev="working"/>
<artifacts>
<artifact name="sas.report.output.management" type="jar" ext="jar" status="successful" size="397867">
<origin-location is-local="false" location="http://ivy.fyi.sas.com/Repositories/sds/day/v920/DEVD/ivy-repo/SAS/sas.report.output.management/902000.40.0.20080904192701_v920/sas.report.output.management.jar"/>
</artifact>
</artifacts>
</revision>
</module>

Nascif,

You can make module a "Record Node" which, and then "caller" would be an attribute of module but on the map caller would also be represented as node, with a data link drawn between associated Record Nodes and attribute values.

Mike,

Thanks for your reply, but I must confess that after looking over the VUE UI and reading the documentation I was not able to figure out how to implement your suggestion.

How do I make a module a "Record Node" ? I tried to do so by tweaking the Item Path field in the dataset configuration dialog, by setting it to:
ivy-report.info.dependencies.module
which matches the XML path for modules. I am still getting a 0 count for All Records, and caller is not showing up as one of the available attributes.

I tried to add both module@name and caller@name to the map but they don't have connections between them.

Data Importing Is the best way for the collection of the huge and ample amount of data into the structural or file format which is useful for the track of records generally excel , access and many other data storage software are available into market so using those type of software as back end is useful for tracking.
