I don't like the separate formatting tool bar in 2 alpha. I am using 1.5.5 beta and the way the formatting appears according to the tool in use is very nice. I find lots of floating tool bars very irritating. (Maybe I'm missing something but I thought I'd add my 2pennyworth).
Overall an intriguing program that I am playing with as a possible alternative to mind-mapping software.

Generally, I agree to all the above. Though I'm looking forward to the next version, I use 1.6.4 alpha instead. This is mainly due to the interface being cleaner.

Though I realize the version 2 alpha is just that, an alpha release, I'd like to see more docked toolbars and pallets. Floating toolbars are nice, but sometimes can be clunky to use.

Still though, great start!

The palettes are dockable and remember their location so hopefully you can arrange them to your preference and have that arrangement as your default.

For our information, can you tell us what palettes
you use most often?

Unfortunately I've not been able to dock any of the pallets. I've reviewed the manual and release notes but to no avail. Could you post a link for explaining this procedure? It might be worthy to note I use a dual monitor setup.

Generally, I use the 'formatting' pallet 100% of the time. The 'panner' and 'outline' get used about 75% of the time. The rest I use only occasionally.

Hope this helps and thanks for the wonderful software!

Just a note about dual monitors...

I haven't had very good luck with VUE and dual monitors - can't get the undocked toolbars to move to the 2nd monitor, and all the pop-up text (when you hover over a node) appears on the primary screen.

My primary computer is a laptop, but at my office and at home I have a second monitor. Thus most of the time I am in a dual monitor setting, and the secondary monitor is much larger. I wish VUE dealt with that setup better than it does - it would make the app more useful to me.

Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce:
In regard to dual monitors: we haven't gotten to that level of "fit and finish" to clean up the dual monitor behavior.

I presume from your previous comment that you use Windows? Our development is done on multiple platforms, so the behavior of multiple monitors is a known challenge.

Please contact me directly at the email address below if you want to help us test this feature when we get to it.

Regards,
Peter
