I believe I saw a screenshot somewhere, where you could 'dock' the pallets on the screen. Is this possible in the current alpha version?

The short answer is "yes", you can dock the palettes.

Here's the long answer. You can think of "docking" palettes as a magnetic force between one display component and another. In VUE, you can dock palettes against each other, against the main VUE window, and against the edges of the screen.
Keep in mind, though, that the main VUE window itself doesn't dock, just the palettes (internally, VUE calls this component a "DockWindow").

Ah, this explains quite a bit.

In docking, i tend to think of it as pallets that become a part of the main program window rather than magnetically attracted to the sides.

This helps, thanks!
