Hi,

I'd like to suggest some improvements for link labels. (1) I have a map with 17 nodes in a circular pattern. The link labels sometimes have as many as a dozen words. In this format, the link labels tend to interfere with each others. I'd like to see the labels staggered, with one further out on the link (closer to the circumference) and the next, closer to the center. (2) To assist further, I'd like to be able to enclose the link label in a box. (3) In Vue, the link label is in front of the link, but in a published image map, the link runs through the label. The two should be consistent and selectable, with in front being the default format. (4)Applying font formatting to link labels (also node labels) affects the entire label. It should affect only the selected characters or words.

1) I agree with you that it would be useful to stagger link labels, but we are not planning on addressing this issue before the final release of VUE 2.0 at the end of March 2008. We made a note to look at this issue in a later version of VUE (as we hope there will be more versions in the future!) Maybe someone in the OpenSource community would like to take it on!

3) We will investigate the link label going to the back of the other link when publishing (I was only able to reproduce when saving as a PDF - maybe you can tell us which version of VUE you are using)

2,4) Currently, there are 2 types of "text objects". The node and link labels being the most limited one. The "T" icon in the toolbar allows you to access the newest text object, which has more formatting capabilities. We hope in the future to enable more formatting options for nodes + link labels.

Thanks for your feedback!
